MANCHESTER UNITED will let Juan Mata leave the club for free - but it would be the wrong decision to do so.

Man Utd news: Matt Le Tissier cannot see Jose Mourinho keeping Juan Mata  That is the opinion of Sky Sports pundit and former Southampton forward Matt Le Tissier. Mata is out of contract at Manchester United at the end of the current season.

The Spaniard has made five Premier League starts so far this campaign and has featured regularly since Mourinho became United boss in 2016.

However, reports claim Mata is set to part company with Manchester United for nothing when his current deal comes to an end.

The attacking midfielder has been linked with a move to Premier League rivals Arsenal to link up with Unai Emery, who managed Mata when the pair were at Valencia.Soccer Saturday presenter Jeff Stelling asked Le Tissier if he thought Mata will leave. “Juan Mata, eight months left on his contract so can look for other clubs in January,” Stelling said.

"Do you think Jose Mourinho truly believes in him?”Le Tissier believes it would not be wise to let Mata go but cannot see otherwise. “I think they probably will, I think they will,” he said.
