The global war on terrorism has continued to rage, with extremist, jihadists and Islamists seeking to widen their coast and gain more territory. However, governments of the world are not relenting in their bid to eradicate the menace.

The Islamic State is one of such terror groups that has been seeking to spread its tentacles and has been doing this through alliances

Authorities in Spain have reported the arrest of a 19-year-old lady, who allegedly runs recruitment exercise for the Islamic State (Isis). A statement made by the Spanish interior ministry informs that the teenager was apprehended in Figueres, a northeastern city of spain.

The lady whose arrest is linked to a 21-year-old Moroccan national, whom German police detained in Stuttgart last month after he fled Spain, is accused of the“indoctrination and recruitment of people with the goal of sending them to combat zones controlled by Daesh”

‘Daesh’ is an alternative name for the Islamic State extremist group.

The apprehension of the teenage recruiter, is the latest in a string of women detained for allegedly sympathising with the armed jihadist group.

It is worthy in July, police arrested a Spanish woman on the Canary Island of Lanzarote suspected of recruiting pre-teen girls and teenagers of both sexes to send to areas controlled by the Islamic State.

According to Spanish authorities, the woman maintained contact with Islamic State militants in Syria, including a facilitator who gave her orders for recruiting girls and arranging their travel to Syria.

The Islamic State has claimed numerous killings and kidnappings in Iraq and Syria, after declaring an “Islamic Caliphate” in territory under its control.

Statistics show that more than 100 people from Spain are suspected of having joined jihadist fighters in Iraq and Syria and authorities fear they may return to launch attacks.

Meanwhile, Isis is not strange to Nigeria, there have been claims that Boko Haram, an insurgent sect in the northeastern part of the country has aligned with the Islamist group in Iraq.

A recent investigation revealed that the Islamic State has been recruiting quite a number of Nigerians to join their course in Syria. An envoy from the Syrian embassy in Nigeria, Shafik Daiyob said that many ISIS supporters who were given visas by the Turkish embassy entered Syria lawlessly through Turkey.

However investigations are still on regarding the viability of these claims, and the Turkish ambassador, has said that there will be responses only when a published report of the charges against his mission is made.

Though speculations say that Turkey is the gateway for majority of the insurgents in Syria, yet, there are other porous borders where some Nigerians who are sympathisers of ISIS, have attempted to gain entry as to join forces with the rebels.

It is recalled that in August, two Nigerian students from Delhi where arrested trying to scaled a 20-foot-high grilled fence in a bid to illegally enter Pakistan.

The two Nigerians, were arrested by Border Security Force (BSF) personnel after a chase. Officials say they both claim to be on their way to Pakistan for pursuing Islamic studies.

However intelligence gathered by the BSF reveals that their final destination was Iraq.
